What are hair-growth injections?

Hair-growth treatment at Revive™ Medical Spa uses platelet-rich plasma (PRP) scalp injections derived from your own blood. Platelets are a component of your blood, along with liquid plasma and red blood cells. They contain special restorative growth factors that help you rebuild tissue — including hair.

Your provider separates your blood to create optimal platelet concentrations and cellular content. They draw a small amount of your blood and spin it in a centrifuge with a special gel that’s tailored to your hair specifically.

Who is a good candidate for hair-growth injections?

Men or women with thinning or receding hair are great candidates for this treatment. People within the earliest stages of hair loss often experience the best results, however.

What should I expect during hair-growth injections?

Ms. Schmitt meticulously places hair-growth injections across your scalp, at approximately half-inch intervals over areas of thinning or receding hair. The entire process takes about 30 minutes. 

Most people tolerate hair-growth injections well without topical numbing cream, but you can opt for it if you’d like to. Ms. Schmitt and her team also offer ice packs to ease any discomfort you may experience.

How should I care for my scalp after the procedure?

Following hair-growth treatment, you can return to normal activities with no problem. Rest your hair and scalp for 2-3 days, though. That means no blow drying, coloring, or processing your hair.

You may experience slight bruising, swelling, or redness following natural hair-growth injections, but these temporary side effects resolve within a few days or a week.
